Analog Micro Devices (AMD) and MulticoreWare laid the foundation for bilateral collaboration to create a new environment and development tools multicore chips based on the OpenCL programming language.
According to the press generated by the chip maker AMD, the main objective of this alliance is to move to a new working environment for the community of developers through a new range of devices based integration platform OpenCL ( Open Computing Language).
The manufacturer's participation in this project will be AMD to offer their microprocessor development architecture so users can take elements inherent MulticoreWare libraries and tools so that you can download directly from your website.
The expectations of both companies plan to obtain the final result of the incorporation of design features OpenCL in data processing devices that include graphics AMD chips (CPUs / GPUs) for high performance in a single chip.
"We have worked closely with AMD to produce the fastest and most efficient way to provide optimized code for multicore heterogeneous environments, with full support for OpenCL standards and platform portability," said Curtis Davis, co-founder and vice president of engineering MulticoreWare .
Meanwhile, Raghu Rao, director of AMD Solutions Development said: "AMD believes strongly that industry standards such as OpenCL allows the developer community to get full benefits of heterogeneous computing platforms."
It is intended that users of such tools to experience the latest in integrated microelectronics devices having multi salient features of CPUs and GPUs in a single package specialized for encoding video, image analysis and processing of facial patterns, to mention some.
Furthermore, the use of other design platforms such as Global Memory Accelerators (GMAC) provides code development simply units CPUs and GPUs in a single space without the need for advanced knowledge management systems, domains other than memory and electronic mapping elements.
What is imperative to know is the proper task sequencing operations involves both GPUs as CPUs units, which require optimization systems and memory accesses.
"Working with MCW to make the development of key tools fully available to developers worldwide, AMD is beyond the advancement of heterogeneous computing and industry standards from the developer community," said Rao.
According to unofficial information shared by AMD, the tools will be available initially for Microsoft Windows platforms with support for Linux and MacOS that will in the coming weeks.
The bases of OpenCL in this project lies in the ease with which AMD will provide the tools and engineers to MCW users thereof to optimize their designs and prototypes based on this popular programming language and entirely compatible with Accelerator Processing Units (APUs ) of the range AMD Fusion.
"The accelerated parallel processing represents unprecedented levels of computing capabilities for mobile platforms and tools being developed MulticoreWare allow application developers to reap the benefits of performance with minimum effort," said Manju Hegde for his part, AMD corporate vice president for Fusion Experience Program. "Our work with MulticoreWare creates a milestone toward the widespread industry adoption of OpenCL, which is why engineers equip developers with the tools necessary to build a considerable range the next generation of innovative applications from individual computers to computing equipment high performance, "he said.
